Berlin, Germany’s capital, dates to the 13th century. Reminders of the city's turbulent 20th-century history include its Holocaust memorial and the Berlin Wall's graffitied remains. Divided during the Cold War, its 18th-century Brandenburg Gate has become a symbol of reunification. The city's also known for its art scene and modern landmarks like the gold-coloured, swoop-roofed Berliner Philharmonie, built in 1963.
Overnight in Berlin.
After breakfast, discover the beauty of Berlin on a City Sightseeing tour and learn all about it´s tragic events that changed the world. Berlin has been at the epicentre of most world-shaping events of the past century, which has resulted in today’s wonderfully diverse city with a rich display of historical and cultural sights, buildings and memorials alluding to its chequered heritage. The double-decker, hop on-hop off Berlin Tourist Bus offers three ways to explore the German capital and discover its many sights and attractions while learning about its dramatic past. Take the Classic Tour or the Wall and Lifestyle Tour, or a tour that combines both. The Classic Tour (red route) features all of the major sights in Berlin such as the Brandenburg Gate, the famous KaDeWe department store, the former Checkpoint Charlie and the iconic TV Tower. This tour takes about two hours. You also have the opportunity to explore the heart of the city on your own initiative. The Wall and Lifestyle Tour (green route) focuses on the notorious Berlin Wall, which during its 28-year existence became the ultimate symbol of communist oppression. Visit the Berlin Wall Memorial, investigate an original WWII bunker, discover Prenzlauer Berg with its countless restaurants, cafés and galleries or see the East Side Gallery, the longest preserved part of the Berlin Wall, which features murals and graffiti by more than 100 artists. This tour takes about two hours. Alternatively, you can do a tour that combines both routes – and thus see all of Berlin!
