Welcome to Finland

On arrival at Ivalo International Airport, you will be met by our local representative and you will be transferred to the hotel in Saariselkä.

Day is free, for you to explore the arctic city at your own pace.

Saariselkä is a resort village in northern Finland. It's a gateway to the trails and ski areas of mountainous Urho Kekkonen National Park. The village's Destination Northernmost Europe exhibition has a panorama theater with films on the region’s plant and animal life, including reindeer. To the north, the lakefront Sámi Cultural Center Sajos includes a craft shop and a library devoted to the indigenous Sami people.

At the edge of wilderness along the road of the Arctic sea. Kakslauttanen. The glass igloo provides a one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights and millions of stars of the crystal clear sky in comfort. Built from special thermal glass the temperature inside the igloo always stays warm, it also prevents the glass from not getting white frosted, hence keeping the view clear even when the temperature outside drops to under -30°C. Every igloo is equipped with a toilet and luxury beds. Enjoy the night @ glass igloo in East Village.

Breakfast at the hotel.

Enjoy a two hour snowmobile safari. The snowmobile safari takes you to the small ski village of Saariselkä situated approximately ten kilometers away. Transfer by private vehicle from the hotel to the safari office. At the safari office you will receive full equipment, to include - thermal suit, boots, socks, gloves, balaclava and helmet. An all-important lesson follows. When everybody is ready the safari trail begins with a drive up to the beautiful Kaunispää fell, 436m above sea level. At the top of the fell you can enjoy the magnificent views of the area below. The trail then continues through the beautifully mystical forest. This safari excursion is two hours long and includes an en-route coffee break. Two persons can share one snowmobile and take turns in driving or you can request one for sole occupancy at a supplementary cost. This safari provides an everlasting memory of true excitement in Finnish Lapland! Enjoy your stay @ a traditional log cabin in East Village.

Enjoy a full day cross country skiing, in the beautiful Urho Kekkonen National Park. Hotel Kakslauttanen is ideally situated for cross-country skiing. The entire Saariselkä area has a combined trail distance of over 200kms and there are varying degrees of trails from family ones to competition and technique trails to nature trails and illuminated trails. The illuminated trail passes by the hotel and is open from 06.00 - 22.00hrs every day and these trails are kept open from early morning even after a heavy snowfall during the night. Enjoy the night in your traditional log cabin in East Village.

Kemi is a town on Bothnian Bay in Lapland, Finland. It’s known for the massive Sampo icebreaker, a giant ship built to ply the Arctic waters. At Kemi’s harbor is the SnowCastle, a seasonal carved-ice complex. Kemi Lutheran Church is a Gothic Revival structure with an ornate, red-brick exterior. To the north, Bothnian Bay National Park has old fishing huts, rare plants and abundant birds, including Arctic terns.
 

Ivalo is a village on the Ivalo River in Lapland, in northern Finland. It’s known as a gateway to Saariselkä, an arctic resort area to the south. To the southeast, Urho Kekkonen National Park is home to pine forests and reindeer. It has trails and seasonal views of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Overlooking the park is the ear-shaped mountain Korvatunturi, which is also the folkloric home of Santa Claus.

Turku a city on the southwest coast of Finland, straddles the Aura River. Dating from the 13th century, it's known for Turku Castle, a medieval fortress with a history museum, perched at the river mouth. Tampere is a city in southern Finland. It sits between Näsijärvi Lake and Pyhäjärvi Lake, with the Tammerkoski rapids in between. The Vapriikki Museum Center houses several museums, including the Natural History Museum and an exhibition about the 1918 civil war. Tampere Cathedral is known for its macabre frescoes. Kaleva Church, with its striking concrete architecture, is designed to look like a fish from above.

Kotka is a city in the southern part of the Kymenlaakso province on the Gulf of Finland. Kotka is a major port and industrial city and also a diverse school and cultural city, which was formerly part of the old Kymi parish. The neighboring municipalities of Kotka are Hamina, Kouvola and Pyhtää.
