On arrival at Colombo International Airport you will be met by our local representative and you will be transferred to the hotel in Dambulla.

The travel time will be approximately 4 hours from Colombo airport and enoute, make a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The Orphanage is situated northwest of the town of Kegalle, halfway between the present capital Colombo and the ancient royal residence Kandy in the hills of central Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka wildlife department in a 25 acre coconut property near the Maha Oya River. The orphanage was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned Elephants found in the jungle. After the Elephant Orphanage visit, proceed to the hotel in Dambulla.

Dambulla-Located in the north central province this UNESCO World Heritage Site which dates back to the 01st century BC, is an amazing complex of 05 caves, first used as a refuge by an ancient king who on regaining his throne, commissioned magnificent carved images within the living rock, Later kings made further improvements and the caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is a colossal figure spanning 15 meters. Cave inscriptions from the 2nd Century BC are found and on the walls are many paintings most of which belong to the Kandy period (early 19th century). This temple is a perfect location to view evolution of ancient Sri Lankan art and is an important historical site due to the amalgamation of the material from many eras.

Rock Cave Temple

Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 kilometres east of Colombo and 72 kilometres north of Kandy. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

Visit to Sigiriya & climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres high.

Prepare for check out and the driver will pick you up and drop you to Kandy. The duration of the journey from Dambulla to Kandy is around 3 hours.

On the way you will be visiting the famous spice garden in Matale, where you will witness many spices and herbs in Sri Lanka. Spice Garden-The Island had been famous for its spices since medieval times and is considered as one of the main reasons for the Europeans to conquer the Island and for the Arabs to trade upon from the 14th century onwards. The most interesting feature would be the opportunity you’ll get to identify the real plants of spices you are so familiar within your day-to-day life. A qualified guide will do a conducted tour of the garden and a presentation of its products. Enjoy a special head and shoulder massage at the spice garden. After a relaxing spice garden tour proceeds to Kandy for a Batik visit factory, a Gem Museum, and drive through the local Market.

Kandy-A lovely exotic city, the Hill Capital and the last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which retains an aura of grandeur, time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha and the Royal Botanical gardens – home to one of the world’s best collections of Orchids. A cultural sanctuary where many legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive, Kandy and its satellite villages are the centre of the islands handicraft industry (items of wood, brass & silver) exquisite silver or gold jewellery and precious gems of many varieties including the world’s best blue and star sapphires. The highlight of the city’s calendar is the Esala Perahera when a replica of the casket enclosing the Tooth is taken in procession for ten glittering nights in July/August by exotically costumed dancers, drummers, and approximately 100 Elephants. Later in the evening witness a cultural dance performed by our famous Kandyan Dancers.

Today your driver will bring you to Peradeniya to explore the beautiful collections of the Royal Botanical Gardens. The historical botanical gardens will be an enchanting experience. Exploration of this magnificent garden will give you an insight in to Sri Lankan Flora and other exotic plants, in a tranquil environment. A perfect ambience for a romantic pick-nick for two. It is near the Mahaweli River. It is renowned for its collection of orchid. After visiting the Botanical Garden, will have the chance to visit a Batik Factory, a Gem Museum and drive through the local Market. On arrival in Colombo you will proceed in visiting the main sights and attraction in the capital city. This vibrant port city was known to ancient Greek and Roman traders, and was colonized by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British, leaving it with an architectural legacy that has made it one of the most attractive cities in south Asia. Discover the top sights and attractions such as the Gangaramaya Temple and the famous Pettah market. Vibrant, bustling and colourful Colombo is a city that captures the heart of all visitors. Its mix of cultures, religions and languages merely adds to its aura and mystique. See how these combine with historic landmarks such as the Pettah Dutch Bell Tower at the Kaiman Gate. The places of interest are some of the city’s residential areas, where you find stately homes of the affluent, and the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, a gift to Sri Lanka from the People's Republic of China. There is also the option to visit the House of Fashion and the Premadasa Jewellery and Arts Centre, and the National Museum.

Colombo, Sri Lanka‘s bustling capital, is located on the country’s west coast and with a population of between 800,000 and one million (estimates vary) is by far the country’s biggest city, as well as its window on the world. Its natural harbour at the mouth of the Kelani River was a magnet for successive traders and conquerors – first Arab merchants, then Portuguese, Dutch and British imperialists. Colombo’s cosmopolitan side supports ever-more stylish eateries, galleries and museums. Surprises abound in its old quarters where you can find great local food and discover a characterful shop or tiny, convivial cafe. The capital is an excellent start – or finish – to your Sri Lankan adventures
