The City of Brussels is the largest municipality and historical centre of the Brussels-Capital Region, and the capital of Belgium. Besides the strict centre, it also covers the immediate northern outskirts where it borders municipalities in Flanders. Belgium, a country in Western Europe, is known for medieval towns, Renaissance architecture and as headquarters of the European Union and NATO. The country has distinctive regions including Dutch-speaking Flanders to the north, French-speaking Wallonia to the south and a German-speaking community to the east. The bilingual capital, Brussels, has ornate guildhalls at Grand-Place and elegant art-nouveau buildings.

Get to know the city in record-time with two fantastic routes taking in all that historic Brussels has to offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring this fascinating city. Both the ‘Atomium’ and ‘Europe’ routes take 75 minutes and both conveniently leave from the central station, though you can hop on and off at will. ‘Atomium’ is named after the attraction of the same name, a zany mid-century structure in the shape of an atom originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. This tour also passes through Arenberg and Rogier, calling at the historic greenhouses of the Royal Serres as well as the huge Roman Catholic National Basilica of the Sacred Heart, offering some of the most beautiful views of the city. At Dansaert Street you can enjoy pubs and cafes, before viewing the Brussels Bourse stock exchange and the iconic Manneken Pis fountain.
The ‘Europe’ routes first heads to the historic Place Royale Square and Sablon Hill, with plenty of beautiful Art Nouveau buildings to catch your eye. See the former Cistercian Abbaye de la Cambre, Flagey Square and leafy Parc Leopold where locals go to picnic and stroll among the old trees. The huge Cinquantenaire park and the Royal Palace of Brussels are also included.

Breakfast at the hotel. Come and discover the two of the most visited and beautiful cities in Belgium: Ghent and Bruges.
Visit Saint Bavo Cathedral, home of the famous Mystic Lamb painting. During the city tour you will admire many important buildings from the Middle Ages; such as the Belfry, St Nicholas Church and the Earl's Castle. In Bruges, discover the Lake of Love, the Church of Our Lady with the statue by Michelangelo and more major attractions. You can take an optional boat tour along the canals (not included). The Saint Bavo Cathedral, named from Saint Bavo of Ghent, is the seat of the diocese of Ghent. The original Chapel of St. John the Baptist, built with a wooden structure, was consecrated in 942. The church became the Cathedral in 1559. Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor was baptised here. Whilst here, you will have the option to view the famous Mystic Lamb Painting (not included).
The Church of Our Lady in Bruges was originally built in the 13th century. Its 122 metres tall tower is the tallest structure in the city and the second tallest brickwork tower in the world. In the choir space behind the altar is the tomb of Charles the Bold, last Valois Duke of Burgundy built-in bronze over the black stone. The main attraction of the site is a white marble sculpture of the Madonna and Child created by Michelangelo around 1504, purchased by a merchant and later donated to this church.

After breakfast. This half-day, fully guided bus and walking tour of Antwerp is a great way to get to know Belgium's second city and one of the most important ports in Europe.
This unspoilt medieval city has recently undergone extensive urban regeneration attracting many artists and quirky shops, bar and restaurants to the area around the old docklands. It is also an important diamond trading centre.
After leaving Brussels, we drive north through Brabant heading for Antwerp, Belgium's second city. Our guided tour takes us from Het Steen, an impressive medieval fortress built to protect the city and its port. Visit the Great Market Square and see the gothic style houses that were once the headquarters of the medieval guilds.
While here you will also visit the Cathedral of Our Lady, one of the most impressive and largest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe: built-in 1351 it stands over 400 ft tall. It also houses some of Rubens' most famous paintings. We pass by the famous MAS Museum located along the River Scheldt and visit the incredible Antwerp Central Train Station, regarded as one of the finest examples of railway architecture.
