Learn how to drive a snowmobile out in the wilderness, followed by a guided visit to the magical Tromsø Ice Domes and a chance to visit the reindeer outside of the ice hotel.
Upon arrival at the wilderness centre of Tromsø Ice Domes, you will be provided with state-of-the-art snowmobiling suits and helmets. The adventure will begin with a thorough safety introduction and practical demonstration. You don't need any previous skills to drive a snowmobile; all you need is a normal physical condition. (A driving licence is required.) You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to switch places during the trip. The tour will bring you past scenic mountains and through the dramatic, snow-covered Finn valley, starting at 250 m above sea level and slowly climbing in between the majestic mountains. You will be on the snowmobile track for approximately 2 hours, depending on the weather and snow conditions.
After the snowmobiling, you will visit the Ice Domes, where the ice bar, ice cinema, ice suites, and ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the Northern Lights, conveyed through beautiful, coloured lighting and wonderful ice sculptures. At the Ice Domes, you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of the ice hotel and the impact the snow has on the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask the experienced guide questions, as well as admire the unique snow and ice art carved by professional artists. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary. There is also a small group of reindeer at the Tromsø Ice Domes for our guests to visit.

Fun & Easy Dog Sledding Adventure (8th November - 9th April)

Drive your own team of huskies! This is an experience out of the ordinary and a must-do for anyone visiting Northern Norway. The dog sled has been used for centuries throughout the Arctic region, mainly for travel, hunting, and transportation. Now it’s your chance to get closer to the raw nature of the Arctic and try this adventurous way of travelling. All tours depart from outside the Scandic Ishavshotel, where you will be picked up for a scenic 50-minute transfer to our camp in Breivikeidet. Upon arrival at our camp in Breivikeidet, situated in a picturesque valley close to the sea, you will be welcomed by our friendly staff. We will provide you with polar insulated suits, boots, hats, and mittens before heading out on the dog sledding adventure. Before meeting the huskies, your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of driving the sled. You don’t need any previous experience: after listening carefully to the demonstration and a few minutes of practice, you’ll enjoy driving on the open fields and inside the forest trails.

Once you say farewell to your four-legged companions, you are invited into our lavvo (a traditional Sami tent), where you can learn a lot more about the dogs from our knowledgeable guides around a campfire and over some hot drinks and cake, and you’ll be driven back to the city with an experience of a lifetime behind you and spectacular photos to show for it!

As far north as you can get - by land and sea. For many, a visit to the North Cape is a high point and a goal for voyages along the Norwegian coast. Up here in the polar landscape, nature is at its harshest and most desolate, but between bare plains and rugged cliffs, people cling on and reap nature's bounty. Our recommended excursion for today is

North Cape plateau
Disembarkation port: Honningsvåg
Embarkation port: Honningsvåg
Time: 11:30-14:30
Season: All year round

Wear comfortable shoes and warm, windproof clothing.
People come here from all over the world to experience being so far north. The iconic globe has become the symbol of the North Cape and is also a popular photo stop.  On the North Cape is also the North Cape Hall, partly built into the mountain cliff, where you will find a restaurant with endless views, a souvenir shop in the mountain wall, a chapel, and a Thai museum. A 180-degree wide-screen film screening of the North Cape throughout the four seasons is a must-see. The excursion to the North Cape also takes you through a wide, barren landscape with rocks and hardy, low-growing vegetation. In the summer, you can see reindeer herds on the plateau. In winter, the snow ploughs' battles against the snow can be an equally impressive sight. At the ends of the earth. The North Cape plateau rises a steep 307 meters straight up from the Arctic Ocean. You are standing on the European continent’s most northerly point, looking out across a horizon so long that you can see the Earth's curve.

Keep a lookout, as the northern lights can be experienced anytime from late evening onwards.
